George Edwin Steinbach

11 Nov 1948

26 Nov 2024

George was born in Seaforth, Ontario on November 11, 1948 and he passed away peacefully in Guelph, Ontario on November 26, 2024 with his long-time partner Sandi (Fraser) by his side. He is survived by his son Spencer Fraser-Steinbach (Steiny) and partner Laine; his daughter Shelbee Fraser-Steinbach; and his special fur babies Rylee, Lenee, Boo, Loo, Zoe and Charlee.

George was a heavy equipment operator, mostly bulldozer. He worked for several companies for over his 60 years but most recently with Mann Construction. George loved it and was a hard worker. He could tell you how much dirt was in a pile, right down to the cup. George passed on his expertise and taught his skills to many over the years, and if they didn’t do something quite to his liking, they knew it. George had a great sense of humour and a great big smile; he would help anyone who asked without question.

George loved the outdoors and all animals. Everyday he would have a story of a furry creature or bird while on the job. George was known to bulldoze around dens and bird nests until the young were gone. George was also known to share his lunch with the foxes or other wildlife.

As per George’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral. In Memory of George, he requested that you adopt a pet, donate a bag of food to your local shelter, feed the birds; and be kind to nature.

George spent his final day at Hospice Wellington and we could not have asked for a better send off, so if animals and nature are not your cup of tea please find it in your heart to donate to Hospice Wellington on his behalf.
