The family of Donald Wallace Swackhamer, 81, announce his passing on September 4, 2025, at the St. Joseph’s Health Centre Guelph following a lengthy battle with dementia.  He was born on September 22, 1943, to (Clinton) Wallace Swackhamer and Irene (Aitken) Swackhamer residing in Acton, ON.

Don is survived by his wife, Shirley (Langevin) Swackhamer, daughter Karen Mansfield (Andy Fraser), son Bradley Swackhamer (Janeen), four grandchildren Devan Mansfield, Kendal Mansfield (Jamie Eels), Connor Swackhamer (Hannah Johnson), Nathan Swackhamer, three great-grandchildren Kaylee Mansfield, Reed Eels, Amelia Eels, three sisters Linda Thompson (Fred), Carol Hyde, Janice Hilts (Hal), one brother Rae Swackhamer (Jessie Gibson) and sister-in-law Marjorie Britton.

He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Lori, son-in-law Troy Hunter, brother-in-law Robert Hyde and in-laws Calvin and Betty McIntyre, Mervin and Eleada Thompson and Ross Britton

Don spent over 30 years working for the Town of Halton Hills, previously the Town of Acton, many of them as the Superintendent of Roads.  He had a lifelong passion for horses and harness racing, always preferring to be on the farm.  Past President and Lifetime Member of the Acton Agricultural Society.

Cremation has taken place. A private family funeral and interment at Churchill Cemetery, Acton will take place.

Memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer Society of Ontario, Acton Agricultural Society or Churchill Cemetery.

    I will always fondly remember summers spent visiting Uncle Don, Aunt Shirley and my cousins Karen, Lori and Brad. Uncle Don was a quiet, hard working and kind man that took great pride in showing a “City kid” the ropes around the farm. He will be greatly missed.

I will always fondly remember summers spent visiting Uncle Don, Aunt Shirley and my cousins Karen, Lori and Brad. Uncle Don was a quiet, hard working and kind man that took great pride in showing a “City kid” the ropes around the farm. He will be greatly missed.
